My cousin is somewhat of a misplaced drill sergeant. She is going to be my sister’s maid of honor and is taking the role way too seriously. She thinks that she is all of a sudden, the wedding planner extraordinaire. She has been barking out more orders than a diner waitress. The other day she was yelling at one of the bridesmaids to get on line and find her a selection of the most stylish wedding cake toppers. She treated this young girl like she was an ancient slave. If you ask me, I think she has watched one too many movies.

I can’t believe it took me over five years to solve this bit of annoyance I was experiencing. I am an avid collector of family related information. I store everything from post cards to wedding annoucements in my vinyl binders. I have always fallen a bit short when it comes to organization and labeling things. I could never remember which binder had what. One day, I realized that if I put the right type of page in the front of each binder and used clear vinyl binders, my problem would be solved. Now I have to be sure to make the front pages representative.

I predict that the day will come when the wedding cake toppers will not only be close to the size of the cake, but may very well cost as much as the cake. I actually saw one on a client’s website that had the blissful couple atop the cake wearing their actual wedding rings. One of the most expensive ones that was displayed had his and her Rolexes around the waists of the bride and groom. I shouldn’t be so surprised. It reminds me of these luxury item magazines that offer million dollar bras and multi-thousand dollar shoes. After all, it’s only money.

I couldn’t believe my ears. I went to visit my sister in BC to see how her home renovation was going. I figured it would be about half done, given the fact that it started only two weeks before. I immediately told her that I would get a hotel room so I could out of the way of the contractors. What shocked was when she said, “it’s done.” I said, ” what, you’ve got to be kidding me.” Then she told me the saga of the efficiency of the Manitoba carpenters and how highly regarded they are in the community and surrounding area. It looks like some reputations re greatly earned.

I must admit, it is a rather unusul connection, but my desire to spend a career in web page design has aweird inspiration. For five generations my mother’s side of the family have been Manitoba carpenters. One of my great unvles was actually a well respected furnitur builder. My interest first sparked when I asked my mom where our dining room table came from since it was so delicate and fine, it intrigued me. When she told me who made it, I was on my way to being creative. When I do creative design, I am not working, I’m tripping. How great is it to make a living while having a ball.

Everything in life is the result of a design. Whether it be a web design, a furniture design or the design of the Almighty, it is the manifestation of thought. There is a Vancouver interior design company that brings the concept of design to a purely artistic level. It is very pleasing to witness a skill at its pinnacle. I am tired of being disappointed in so-called designers that simply don’t have a feel for it. My biggest complaint is in the automotive industry where so many cars fall short of cosmetic beauty. 3 Ring Binders

The world is becoming more and more technical every day. Some of the so-called advances are adding value to society and, unfortunately, some are damaging society. I really feel that certain things need a more personal touch than others. Take my seven year old niece for example. She came into my office last week with four 3 ring binders filled with sketches for my web design business. She tells me she wants to be like me and these are some of her ideas. There were probably near five hundred drawings in those binders. How priceless was this personal contact? What if they were just sent to me in a PDF? The value would have been greatly decreased.

I have spent the last eight years using every ounce of my creative ability to design pages for my clients. I would sit in front of my keyboard and in an unexplainable way, visions would come. There were days when I was positive I would be blocked, then magically my fingers seemingly having a mind of their own would start pounding out ideas. Have you ever have had the experience of doodling on your note pad and not knowing where it came from. Now that my wedding day is quickly approaching, I can’t come up with a single solitary idea for my wedding decorations.
